Hi, I'm Michelle

My background is in television news. I've worked for stations in New York and Portland, Oregon, as a producer and writer for live broadcasts. News is my passion.

But for years, I couldn't stop daydreaming about taking some time off to see the world, and to grow outside of the newsroom. So at 26, I left my job, and planned on taking a little trip with a small amount of cash saved. I figured I'd return soon and jump back into the field.

But shortly after I left, I realized two things: I didn't want to be forced to turn around because of finances, and I could pretty easily make money while on the road. So my "short trip" could actually last as long as I wanted.

And I realized one other thing:

There was no going back. There was only going forward.
